Project Description
The market of innocence
David Beriain returns to show first hand the operation of Medellín’s sex tourism networks. The clandestine networks of sex tourism with minors in Colombia. With ‘The market of innocence’, the viewer will discover how in the last two decades, Medellín has evolved from drug trafficking and extreme violence to a thriving cosmopolitan city. However, the dark side of the influx of tourists has been a boom for sex tourism that has turned the lives of many children into a true nightmare.
This documentary analyzes the sex tourism networks that proliferated in the hometown of Escobar and its terrible consequences. Many of the businesses that have evolved before the impassive look of the authorities are managed by foreigners from the United States and Europe. These ‘operators’ offer guided tours of the city’s brothels and hot spots of prostitution through the Internet.
