Project Description
La Caixa Fellowship
A while ago, 93 Metros assumed the audiovisual production of the contents of La Caixa Fellowship Program, a community of more than 4,000 brilliant people united by a common denominator: having received a fellowship from La Caixa to complete their training at foreign universities. Among its assignments, a series of profiles of fellows who have made some extraordinary contribution to society stand out. People who come from very diverse disciplines and who are taking full advantage of the scholarship today.
This is the case of Miquel Sendra, currently doing a PhD at the National Center for Cardiovascular Research (CNIC) in Madrid thanks to La Caixa. Its main objective is to discover how the heart is formed.
In the same line of exciting research is Santiago Cartamil, a physicist and electronic engineer specialized in nanotechnology who is currently pursuing his PhD in Holland. He has developed a new technology that uses graphene to make mechanical pixels.
María de Soria-Santacruz is an aeronautical engineer and a doctor from MIT. She currently works at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, where she coordinates the development of an instrument for the Psyche mission.
Another former La Caixa Fellow, Dr. Patricia Pozo-Rosich, directs the pioneer Migraine Adaptive Brain Center promoted by La Caixa at Vall d’Hebron Hospital. His team of researchers seeks to unravel some of the mysteries of this disease to advance its diagnosis, prevention and treatment.
We also interviewed Roger Paredes, section chief of the HIV Unit of the Germans Trias i Pujol Hospital. He is also a member of the Steering Group of the HIV ResNet (World Network on HIV Drug Resistance) of the WHO and a researcher at IrsiCaixa.
Finally, we interviewed Roger Paredes, fellow of La Caixa and section chief of the HIV Unit of the Germans Trias i Pujol Hospital. He is also a member of the HIV ResNet Steering Group (Global Network on HIV Drug Resistance) of the WHO and a researcher at IrsiCaixa. Paredes is convinced that “it is possible to glimpse a world without AIDS”, although he warns of “it will not be easy or soon”, and recalls the importance of research.
